Citizens Still Having Difficulties Applying Online IMB

Online Building Permit (IMB) system seems to be not fully understood yet by the citizens. This can be seen from many IMB proposals rejected due to incomplete requirement applications filed by the citizens.

Many citizens proposed online IMB, but many of them got their proposals returned due to incomplete documents

Many citizens proposed online IMB, but many of them got their proposals returned due to incomplete documents,” stated Head of West Jakarta Building Control Sub-Department Sub-Department Licensing Section, Andor Siregar, Friday (6/27).

Based on West Jakarta Building Control Sub-Department data, there are 1,574 online IMB applications coming in which divided into two groups, namely online IMB for sub-department level (316 applications) and online IMB for sub-district level of (1,263 applications).

IMB Online System still Meets Obstacles

According to Siregar, until now there are only 20 applications of 361 applications preceded in online IMB sub-department level. He assessed that one of the problems why online IMB is not fully understand by the citizens is their incompetence in uploading building design and land construction pictures.

“Indeed, online IMB is still new, so it’s normal if there are constraints. The public is still not used to the internet,” he said.

Meanwhile, West Jakarta Building Control Sub-Department Officer in Charge (Plh), Marbin Hutajulu, stressed that technology of IT-based service needs to be supported because it is yet perfect. As a result, constraints happened, especially during documents uploading process.

“IT-based system needs to be improved to ease the residents in uploading process,” he told.
